The Ritual Committee
By 1978, it was felt that CBST needed a more formal approach to managing the religious and ritual affairs of the congregation. The proposed solution was to form a Ritual Committee (often also called, interchangeably, the Religious Committee) which, in certain respects, assumed many of the responsibilities that would normally be handled by a congregational rabbi. The Ritual/Religious Committee continued to function in this role until Rabbi Kleinbaum was hired in 1992, after which its mandate changed gradually to that of a Rabbi Liaison committee.
