Introduction
The heart of the synagogue is in its ritual life and liturgy. From its very beginning, CBST members felt it was important to have a liturgy that was gay friendly and, a little later, gender neutral as well. To this end, CBST created its own siddur (prayerbook), borrowing liberally from existing liturgies but adapting them to its own requirements.
The 1978 draft of CBST’s second siddur contained, among other highly unorthodox elements, a prayer for gay liberation.
