Maranatha moves ahead . . .

1979 - 1980

In 1979, Maranatha began its series of events and programs, many of which are still carried on through today, such as Maranatha's Annual Christmas Dinner and Maranatha's Annual Pride Breakfast with marching in NYC's Pride Parade.

Some events included a program in February 1979 discussing love among gay people; a Spring/Study Action series which featured the film "Word is Out"; a discussion group surrounding Lesbian and women's concerns; a discussion led by Bill Johnson on "Coming Out"; an Easter party; "Gay Seniors Speak Out" program; and marching for the first time as Maranatha in the 1979 Pride Parade (on June 25, 1978, it's first public event, Maranatha members marched under the UCC banner.)
