ANONYMOUS
FREE WILL BAPTIST

Student Preacher and Youth Director

In keeping with my Baptist tradition, which does not include such things as stoles, please accept my usual Sunday "liturgical garb" -- a necktie.

Contribution Story

This whimsical "stole" was given to me by a young man I met at a national conference in Texas in 1999. He was overseeing child care and youth activities for the conference, a task for which he was well suited. His enthusiasm, good humor, and zest for life were matched by his deep faith.

At the time that I met him, he was in the process of coming out to his church. Although he was keenly aware that this would preclude him from any possibility of ministry in his denomination, his sense of call was clear and he remained convinced that God would help him find a way to follow that call. In 1999 he was in search of a church where he would be welcome. The church that eventually does open the door for him will find itself blessed abundantly by a gifted pastor.
