Dr.
W. Norman
Pittenger
As Remembered by Ken South
Sometime during the 1970s Dr. Pittenger was invited by his long-time friend Canon Clinton R. Jones of Christ Church Cathedral in Hartford, Connecticut, to speak at some sort of event. I don’t remember much of the event, but will never forget Pittenger's introduction of himself. “One of my duties when I was in Cambridge was to be the confessor to a cloistered convent of Anglican nuns. Do you know what it is like to hear the confession of a cloistered nun? Well, it’s rather like being stoned to death with popcorn!”
